Sandwell Registry Office, West Bromwich

The requirements

Sandwell's Register Office is a Grade II listed Highfields House in West Bromwich town centre.

Formerly four houses, now prestigious office accommodation dating back to the 1830’s. Mitie worked alongside Dulux to ensure the correct colour schemes were developed a direct benefit of the commitment to Dulux Contract Partnership.

All of the external painted surfaces needed to be redecorated in one continuous operation. Mitie only supply Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council with directly employed trained operatives. This ensures a very high quality finish is achieved through the Mitie self-delivered painting model.

The project specification also required highly skilled traditional decorating techniques, including specialist paint applications and traditional joinery techniques.

How we helped

After successfully tendering for the original decoration package, we held talks and pre-start meetings with Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council to discuss all operational issues. Health and Safety considerations were paramount as well as project delivery programming considering the significant importance of the venue.

Mitie directly employed multi trade operatives completed a significant number timber and render repairs which were identified as part of the initial survey and agreed with Sandwell MBC. Mitie also provided additional value for money by liaising closely with specialist scaffolding providers to ensure excellent customer service and completion on time and in budget.

The results

Our decoration works brought the beautiful Grade II listed building back to life with a fresh colour scheme and an excellent quality of finish.

Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council was very pleased with the finish and the customer service provided by both Mitie and Akzo Nobel working together within the Dulux Contract Partnership.
