Denny High School
We completed this project for our client Forth Electrical Services (FES) carrying out internal decoration to various areas at Denny High School. The scope of works was to renew timber skirting boards, uplift and renew carpets, carry out various ames taping works following new partitions and carry out internal decoration to various areas.
Working in this environment, we were tasked with working to a strict programme as the school required areas to be handed over as swiftly as possible due to the school still being in use for key workers’ children through the COVID-19 pandemic. It was vital that we coordinated our works with other trades working alongside us on-site at the same time to ensure that we worked as closely as possible to enable the strict programme dates to be met.
Our designated Site Foreman was key to this project being delivered safely, to programme and to a high-quality finish. He held daily site meetings with the other trades involved and the client; this allowed everyone to review progress against programme, monitor quality and ensure that any small issues that could arise were quickly resolved without halting progress. Our Head of Operations was on site twice weekly as a minimum to liaise with the Foreman, at which time stringent quality checks were carried out whilst ensuring all safe systems of working were being followed at all times, including COVID-19 systems of best practice.
We were able to offer our client a significant cost saving on the project. As part of our scope of works we were tasked with painting the swimming pool walls – the specification for this was 4x coats due to the high temperature and resulting condensation in the area. Using our expertise and knowledge of specification we were able to offer a variation and by offering an alternative water-based primer resulted in us only having to apply 2x coats of paint. By doing this we were able to offer our client improved specification through a better hard-wearing product, as well as a significant saving on the original cost.
